Check in Procedures

We offer special programs for children from Nursery-fifth grade. If you are coming as a first time guest, please plan to arrive a few minutes early to check in your child and complete a registration card. Parents of babies and preschoolers (through age 3) will receive a parent/child pager, should we need to reach you during the service.

Teachers

Because Lighthouse is committed to providing a safe and caring environment for our children, we have a screening process for our teachers which involves background checks and teacher training. We realize that young children are forming impressions about the Lord simply by associating with those who care for them, and so we staff each classroom with quality teachers who know how minister God’s love to children.

Well Children

Just as you trust us to care for your child, we trust you when deciding whether or not to bring your child to Sunday school if they are ill. Our teachers and staff are trained to see that our health guidelines are followed consistently. Bringing only well children ensures that the teachers are not placed in the awkward position of not being able to accept your child into the class for the sake of others.

Please keep your child home if they have:

  • A temperature above 98.6
  • Cold symptoms such as runny nose, congestion or chronic cough due to cold or flu.
  • Diarrhea or vomiting within the last 24 hours
  • A rash that is not heat or allergy related
  • Symptoms of eye infection such as swollen, runny or red eyes.

Lighthouse Kids Club

Kids can participate by doing the following:

  • Attending service
  • Memorizing (and reciting the following week) their Bible verse
  • Bringing a guest
  • Bringing their Bible
  • Giving tithes and offerings
  • Being courteous, kind or helpful during Sunday School

We will award points, and at the end of every six weeks we will celebrate with cool prizes. The emphasis that we would like to make is on the celebration element, not the competition. We are celebrating all of our hard work and what God is doing in our lives! Everyone who participates will get something special, and all you have to do to participate is come to a service! Our desire is to provide a fun incentive for our kids to cultivate some healthy habits as followers of Christ.

Your help is necessary to make this successful. We want our children to have an understanding of why they are doing these activities…they are not just doing them to get points. This is where our partnership together is so important. Deuteronomy 6 says,

“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Let’s find ways in our daily lives to explain why we do what we do, to our children. At home we can explain to our children why we memorize God’s Word and why we give our tithes and offerings (it’s a good math lesson too!). As we work together we can make these activities, meaningful elements of discipleship in the lives of our children.
